Dark Spots, Poor Street Lighting, Damaged Footpaths, CCTV Gaps and Waste Accumulation Identified; Officials Told to Take Immediate Action
New Delhi : Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the Delhi University campus area on the evening of October 7 and interacted with young women students outside the Arts Faculty to hear their concerns regarding safety and civic amenities.
During the inspection, several issues were identified in and around the campus area, including dark spots, inadequate street lighting, damaged footpaths, gaps in CCTV coverage and accumulation of waste.
The Chief Minister directed the concerned officials to address each of these issues without delay and ensure that necessary corrective measures are implemented promptly. She also directed that compliance with the instructions be reviewed to ensure effective implementation on the ground.
Campus Safety a Top Priority
Emphasising the importance of safety in and around educational institutions, the Chief Minister made it clear that campus safety is non-negotiable and no lapses will be tolerated.
The inspection and interaction with students underline the Delhi Government’s focus on identifying safety-related concerns directly from students and ensuring timely corrective action in areas requiring attention.
