NCERT Textbook: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has recently brought out the revised Class 9 Social Science textbook titled "Understanding Society: India and Beyond" that has been drafted following the guidelines provided by the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023.

One of the notable features of this book includes the inclusion of Chapter 4 (Governance and Public Policy). Here, the NEP 2020 is highlighted as the example of good policymaking process that is based on expert consultation and evidence. Moreover, the chapter connects national governance with the heritage and provides references to the symbols of the country and its mottoes like Satyamev Jayate.

In addition, Chapter 5 (Managing Your Personal Finances) covers basic financial issues and topics like calculation of income tax slab rates under the new system, filing, personal budgeting, and taxation as an important process of nation building. In order to develop entrepreneurial thinking among students, the Chapter 6 (From Ideas to Startups) includes examples of various companies including Shri Mahila Griha Udyog Lijjat Papad and traditional trading networks.

Personal Finances and Income Taxes: In Chapter 5 (Managing Your Personal Finances), the student will learn about personal finances management. It discusses income taxes computation with solved examples in the new tax regime, and views tax payment as an essential civic duty for nation building.

Businesses and Entrepreneurship Case Studies: Business case studies in Chapter 6 (From Ideas to Startups) include rise of Shri Mahila Griha Udyog Lijjat Papad from Rs. 80 crore to Rs. 1,600 crore cooperative firm, success story of hotelier Mohan Singh Oberoi, and Chettiar model of businesses.
