CPI(M) Demands Scraping of NTA and NEP 2020 Following UGC-NET Exam Debacle - The Indian Awaaz

In the wake of widespread errors across three UGC-NET examination papers conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has renewed its vehement demand to scrap both the NTA and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Calling the latest examination controversy a “disgraceful episode,” the CPI(M) stated that it has once again exposed the deep-seated rot within India’s educational framework and laid bare the NTA’s “abject incompetence” in conducting secure and reliable national examinations.

Condemnation of Political Intolerance and Violence

The party also strongly condemned the tragic murder of Janab Mafik in Bankura, West Bengal. Mafik was reportedly killed for highlighting the lack of basic infrastructure at a local school.

Denouncing the incident, the Polit Bureau stated:

“Deplorably, instead of remedying the NEP’s disastrous consequences, the BJP and its affiliates target those who question the system. The murder of Janab Mafik in Bankura… is the epitome of their intolerance.”

The CPI(M) has urged the government to immediately apprehend the perpetrators and ensure swift legal punishment.

Key Demands and Recommendations

Highlighting the urgent need for systemic reform, the CPI(M) outlined key directives for both Union and State Governments:

- Infrastructure Development: Ensure comprehensive basic infrastructure, including adequate teaching staff, in all public educational institutions.

- Strengthening Public Education: Shift focus toward bolstering public education rather than relying on hollow pronouncements.

- Transparent Examinations: Guarantee foolproof, transparent testing mechanisms to protect the futures of students.

The party concluded that students can only be truly empowered through substantive structural improvements, transparent governance, and an end to repressive measures.
